Winning the argument

Sharp mouth is not always sharp brain! Sometimes the first musings don’t always give the best conclusions. Thinking that you’re right & being right are not the same. And it is possible to win an argument not because you have the best thought, but because the others found you the most overbearing & just wanted ‘peace’.

There are arguments we win & it amounts to very little. You can win a case & lose a cause. Your voice can subdue that of your spouse until the home becomes a toxic terrain. Too much rigidity of thought can keep good friends far from you. When everyone around you is suddenly silent, something disquieting is in their mind!

1: The first mark of a good communicator is the ABILITY TO LISTEN! If you pay sincere attention to other peoples opinion, it may not change yours, but it will give you a better perspective to life! Just let the other guys talk & truly consider their position!

2: INSECURE PEOPLE are always over defensive. It is not humiliating to be wrong. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes in thought, word & action. Be open to that possibility & be graceful when others take issues with your position!

3: Some people that you’re arguing with may not be WORTH YOUR PRECIOUS TIME. That person whose nasty comment online is keeping you sweating & angry, may just be a 14 years old urchin, trying to enjoy the freedom of his first phone. Calm down!

4: There are times when your values can make you ‘pipe down’ your arguments! With family, friends & even parishioners, it is sometimes BETTER TO BE RECONCILED THAN TO BE RIGHT! Win people not arguments! Things often fall in place afterwards! Give way to wrath!

5: Being willing to win a friend shouldn’t dilute sacred PRINCIPLES & CONVICTIONS! Know what is ‘not debatable’ and stick to them! NEVER LET ANYONE ARGUE YOU OUT OF MORAL TRUTH! Ahhhh! They’ve helped you achieve destiny euthanasia!

6: Anytime you win an argument against the BIBLE, you have won a bad case! There is ‘NO BUT’ to the WORD OF GOD! Just drop your argument & allow scriptures to prevail. Many times, our human brain cannot fathom the wisdom behind a divine instruction! Give it time!

Ok! Na dat humbling passage wey Isaiah write I go punch you now & if it dey make you angry, make you come slap me for academy awards:

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
“For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” – Isa 55:8-9 [NLT]

Prayer: Receive grace to be gracious! Receive strength to stand for principles! Receive empowerment to live out the word of God! Walk in the high places of destiny in Jesus Christ name!

You’re made of good stuff!

One of the reasons people get frustrated with someone they love is this; they’re seeing more in the person than the person is delivering! When the gap between the capacity they envision & the results that are coming out is too wide, disappointed sets in. I’ve said repeatedly that, it is a destiny abomination to ...

Find the good in it!

Aaaaah! That Judas case was a bad one; a whole ‘Prophet Jesus’ sold for 30 pieces of silver! Then came that ‘hail, master’ kiss & all hell broke loose. But funny enough, right at that point, Jesus called him ‘friend’ & Jesus never sugarcoats stuff; Judas was both his friend & betrayer! Matt 26:48-50. How ...

Comma is not full stop!

Slow down & stop are not the same. A ‘slowing down’ object can still run into a person, while a stationary one cannot. Comma is ‘slow down’; it is the break in continuity before continuation, it creates a clause without a closure & allows for interval before arrival. Comma’s body language is ‘there is more’, ...
