OVERCOMING SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS

KEY TEXT: 2 Kings 6:17 (NKJV) "And Elisha prayed, and said, 'LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."

BACKGROUND AND THOUGHTS ON THE TEXT

Spiritual blindness is one of the most dangerous conditions a believer can experience. A person can have perfect 20/20 physical vision while remaining completely blind to the spiritual realities and divine interventions surrounding them.

In 2 Kings 6, Elisha’s servant saw only the physical Syrian army surrounding the city and panicked in fear. But Elisha, operating with unveiled spiritual sight, saw the unseen heavenly host guarding them. Once the servant’s eyes were opened, panic gave way to confidence.

Spiritual blindness causes fear, confusion, bad choices, and missed opportunities. It makes small problems appear overwhelming and causes you to overlook Heaven’s provision right in front of you.

Pray continuously for spiritual illumination. When God opens your spiritual eyes, you will realize that those who are with you are far greater and more powerful than anything opposing you in this world.

APPLICATION

• Ask the Holy Spirit daily to open the eyes of your spirit.

• Refuse to allow physical circumstances to produce panic or despair in your soul.

• Cultivate a mindset that expects divine intervention in every situation.

• Feed on spiritual truth to remove the scales of worldly thinking from your eyes.

• Walk in spiritual confidence, knowing Heaven’s forces surround you.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, open the eyes of my spirit to see as You see!
Lord, deliver me from every form of spiritual blindness and ignorance.
Let the scales of fear and doubt fall off my spiritual vision right now, in Jesus' name.
