KEY TEXT: Hebrews 5:2 “Who can have compassion on the ignorant and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.”
BACKGROUND AND THOUGHTS ON THE TEXT
Many marriages begin with some unpleasant characteristics usually after the marriage vows have been exchanged. Most times, these issues left unattended to, can eat into the fabric of the home. At this point, there is need to make conscious effort at repairing the damage. Positive changes are not easy to make but the assurance God is giving us today, is that change is possible no matter how bad it looks. For positive changes to take place, concerned parties must work together. Positive changes can only be possible when we endeavor to do it God’s way. What is God’s way? God’s way is the “unconditional-love” way; it’s the “let’s-do-it-together” way, and it’s the “I-will-stand-by-you-through-the-transition” way.
Three things to know about making changes:
- Imperfection is a constant human nature. Change may take time but be patient.
- Affirming love is the greatest motivation for positive change. Affirm love constantly and intentionally.
- Positive communication is the key to negotiating positive change. Don’t keep your mouth closed when you need to speak.
PRAYER: Lord, as I submit my life and home to You, let there be a continual flow of peace and healing.
